Former President Donald Trump released a statement on Sunday slamming President Joe Biden for his handling of the United States Southern border.

“In the span of just [a] few weeks, the Biden Administration has turned a national triumph into a national disaster,” Trump said through his political action committee, Save American PAC. “They are in way over their heads and taking on water fast.”

Biden recently asked that FEMA assist the growing number of children at the southern border. Approximately 4,000 children are in Customs and Border Protection facilities according to White House estimates. Acting commissioner of Customs and Border Protection Troy Miller then said that 9,457 children and teenager’s were detained at the southern border without parents.

The Biden Administration also called on the Department of Homeland Security to volunteer “to help care for and assist unaccompanied minors” Customs and Border Protection facilities. The Biden administration hopes to move migrants from Customs and Border Protection facilities to shelters managed by the Department of Health and Human Services.

The United States under the Biden administration, confirmed by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Sunday, has held strong that they will not turn away unaccompanied children at the southern border. Trump also slammed Mayorkas in his statement saying, “The pathetic, clueless performance of Secretary Mayorkas on the Sunday Shows today was a national disgrace.”

“They must immediately complete the wall, which can be done in a matter of weeks— they should never have stopped it,” Trump said. “They are causing death and human tragedy. In addition to the obvious, drugs are pouring into our country at record levels from the Southern Border, no to mention human and sex trafficking,” he added. Trump does not cite any research supporting his claims.
