President Donald Trump on Sunday again refused to explicitly endorse Vice President Mike Pence for a 2024 presidential run, further fueling rumors that Donald Trump Jr. is planning a bid that year.
The president had initially declined to endorse Pence for president in 2024 in a Fox News interview, and was then asked about this in a separate interview on NBC’s Meet the Press.
“Well it’s far too… look, I love Mike. We’re running again,” Trump said. “But you’re talking about a long time [from now]. So you can’t put me in that position.”
Pence himself recently said in an appearance on CNN that he was not disappointed by Trump’s refusal to endorse him and added the pair are concentrated on winning re-election in 2020.
