Former President Donald Trump took to social media to publicly criticize Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who is expected to challenge him for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024 though neither of them has formally launched a campaign.

In the past, the two have publicly praised each other. Trump even endorsed DeSantis in his race in 2018. In Tuesday’s midterms, DeSantis won his reelection campaign by 20 points.

“He says, ‘I’m only focused on the Governor’s race, I’m not looking into the future,'” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social. “Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that’s really not the right answer.”

Trump, along with many others, sees his endorsement as the reason DeSantis got elected in the first place. The two have also often been compared as having similar political styles.

Before this election cycle, Trump told reporters that he had a “good relationship” with the Florida governor.
