Trump Moved To Underground Bunker In White House & Lights Turned Off As Protests Rage On D.C. Streets

On Sunday night, after six days of protests against police violence across the United States, protesters gathered outside the White House for the third night in a row, throwing bottles and setting off fireworks, despite the police barricades at the gates. At the Secret Services’ request, President Donald Trump took shelter in the underground bunker, fearing for his safety.

Thousands of protesters started the day with peaceful demonstrations, carrying posters and chanting George Floyd’s name, who died after a white Minneapolis police officer pinned him down by the neck during an arrest on Memorial Day. By night, the protests turned violent and D.C. leaders ordered night curfews to gain control over the crowd. The White House, meanwhile, shut off its lights as a security measure.

While in the bunker, Trump made no public appearances but tweeted, “LAW AND ORDER” and “FAKE NEWS,” along with the criticism of the Democrats, commenting on the lack of toughness over the protests.
