Former President Donald Trump has charged the Secret Service over $40,000 this spring alone for spacers that Trump’s protective force used while guarding him at his Mar-a-Lago Club.
Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club charged Secret Service $396.15 every day starting January 20th, when he left office and moved into his club in Florida. The charges continued through April 30, with a bill totaling $40,011.15.
The Post also reported that while Trump was in his office, Trump’s properties charged the Federal government more than $2.5 million, mostly for Secret Service agents to use rooms near him.
Following the report, there have been no previous cases that former presidents charged taxpayers’ money for their Secret Service on this scale.
