Arizona Secretary Of State Katie Hobbs Says Voting Machines In Audit Should Be Replaced

Arizona’s Secretary of State Katie Hobbs told Maricopa County Thursday that hundreds of the state’s voting machines should be replaced after they were turned over to a right-wing company hired by the Republican state senate to recount ballots cast in the state’s November election.

Maricopa County, Arizona’s most populous county, is one of the state’s most crucial areas for its presidential election.

The voting machines were given to Cyber Ninjas, which “had total control without supervision,” according to Hobbs.

“This equipment was accessed by amateur, uncertified “auditors” with zero transparency,” said Hobbs in her tweet. “I support election integrity, and therefore can’t support the continued usage of these machines.”

If the state chooses to replace the machines, it is unclear who would be paying for the new ones.

New machines reportedly would cost the state government millions of dollars.
