Former President Donald Trump called E. Jean Carroll “mentally sick” while denying he sexually assaulted her.
In a recently unsealed deposition, Trump falsely claimed that Carroll said in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper that she “loved” being raped.
Trump was characteristically combative and long-winded while answering questions from Carroll’s lawyers in October.

The deposition given by the former President was released on Friday after U.S. District Court Judge Lewis A. Kaplan dismissed Trump’s plea to dismiss the case. The deposition shows a trail of lies spun by Trump.
“I know nothing about her,” he said to Carroll’s attorney. “I think she’s sick. Mentally sick.”
The claim comes after the two were photographed together a decade earlier.
“She actually indicated that she loved it. Okay?” Trump said of the alleged assault. “In fact, I think she said it was sexy, didn’t she? She said it was very sexy to be raped.”
Trump was falsely referring to an interview Carroll gave to Cooper. According to transcripts of the interview, she said “I think most people think of rape as being sexy,” while explaining why she doesn’t think of herself as a rape victim.
The attorney asked, “So, sir, I just want to confirm: It’s your testimony that E. Jean Carroll said that she loved being sexually assaulted by you?”
Trump responded, “Well, based on her interview with Anderson Cooper, I believe that’s what took place.”
Carroll first alleged she was sexually assaulted by Trump in 2019. She claims the unwanted sex happened in a dressing room at Bergdorf Goodman in the mid-1990s.
Trump has consistently denied knowing Carroll at all.
Carroll has two impending court cases against Trump – one for the alleged assault and another for defamation. Both lawsuits will be heard in April.
