Bush tweeted almost two weeks ago a photo of himself with Trump, which sparked rumors of a potential endorsement. The tweet is still pinned on his feed despite the newest developments.

Bush is the son of Jeb Bush, a rival of Trump’s in the Republican party. Trump relentlessly mocked Jeb Bush as “low energy” during the 2016 GOP primary. Many critics saw George P. Bush’s attempt to get Trump’s endorsement as a further humiliation of his family.

Since the news of the endorsement was released, Bush has taken to attacking Paxton over his current criminal investigations. Paxton is being investigated for allegedly abusing his office to help a wealthy donor. Bush has constantly called out Paxton’s scandals during this campaign season.

Bush’s recent tweet said, “I’m running for Attorney General because Texans deserve integrity and honesty from the office of Texas’ top law enforcement official,” in reference to the ongoing case.

In his speech, Trump said, “Attorney General Ken Paxton has been bravely on the front line in the fight for Texas, and America, against the vicious and very dangerous Radical Left Democrats, and the foolish and unsuspecting RINOs that are destroying our Country.”

Paxton filed a lawsuit trying to overturn the 2020 election, which was dismissed by the U.S. Supreme Court. Many critics have said that Trump’s endorsement is payback for this move.
