Former President Donald Trump called into Fox News on Wednesday night for his first interview since the Capitol insurrection on January 6. While Trump was there to talk about his history with radio host Rush Limbaugh who died on Wednesday, Trump spent most of his time on air maintaining his lie that he won the 2020 presidential election.
“Rush thought we won, and so do I, by the way — I think we won substantially,” Trump said to hosts Harris Faulkner and Bill Hemmer. “I don’t think that could have happened to a Democrat. You would have had riots going all over the place if that happened to a Democrat.”
Faulkner and Hemmer did not dispute Trump’s election lies, instead saying, “Mr. President, we probably have a hundred questions for you, but so many of them are not appropriate for this venue, so we’ll keep it on this topic for now and we appreciate your time today.”

Trump gave Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom soon after the radio host revealed that he had late stage lung cancer in 2020. Limbaugh, however, seemingly was not Trump’s motive for calling into Fox, as he quickly switched to bashing the GOP. “We don’t have the same support at certain levels of the Republican system,” he said.
Trump’s statement comes days after his PAC Save America released a heated statement belittling Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) after the senator said Trump was to blame for the Capitol insurrection.
