Trump Considering Launching 2024 Bid On Inauguration Day

President Donald Trump is reportedly discussing launching a 2024 presidential bid on Inauguration Day and skipping the swearing-in ceremony for President-elect Joe Biden, multiple sources told NBC News.

Trump was not expected to attend the ceremony of his successor either way — nor will he invite Biden to the White House, discontinuing a tradition of presidents showing courtesy to those replacing them.

Although nothing has been finalized, there is “preliminary planning” for a Jan. 20 event for announcing a Trump 2024 bid. Sources said Trump is particularly intent on the Inauguration Day date, as it’s when he filed for re-election in 2017.

Trump has also talked about the possibility of announcing his 2024 campaign prior to Inauguration Day, but after the Electoral College convenes on Dec. 14. If he were to do this, he has contemplated the idea of holding a rally on Inauguration Day, according to the Daily Beast.
