Former President Donald Trump spoke to the North Carolina GOP convention Saturday, making the first major speech outside of Florida since January.

“I am not the one trying to undermine American democracy. I’m the one that’s trying to save it. Please remember that,” the former president said. “We all know what happened with the election. And we can never, ever let that happen again and we’re going to go forward and we’re going to continue to look and things are being found that is not even believable,” Trump added.

During the speech, Trump also boasted about his achievements in developing the COVID-19 vaccine. “If we had not come up with a vaccine, you would have had 1917 Spanish flu numbers,” Trump said.

The former president also promised to support Republicans in the 2022 congressional elections. Trump also announced his endorsement of Rep. Ted Budd (R-North Carolina) for a Senate seat in North Carolina.
