Trump Claims Bloomberg Demanded ‘A Box’ To Stand On In Debate In Pre-Super Bowl Interview

In a pregame interview on Super Bowl Sunday, President Donald Trump took the opportunity to slam Democrats, insulting rivals and accusing Democrats of being hateful.

“I see the hatred. … They don’t care about fairness, they don’t care about lying,” Trump said in the interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity. The interview aired on Fox hours before the highly anticipated Super Bowl.

Trump went down a list of opponents and took turns giving them child-like nicknames. He referred to former Vice President Joe Biden as “Sleepy Joe” Biden, accused Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren of telling “fairy tales” and called Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders “a communist.”

Most of his jabs, however, were saved for former mayor of New York City Mike Bloomberg. Trump accused Bloomberg, who is reported to be 5 feet, 8 inches tall, of requesting a box to stand on for future presidential debates. Bloomberg’s campaign denies that this is true.

“Why should he get a box to stand on?” Trump asked. “Why should he be entitled to that, really? Then does that mean everyone else gets a box?”

Julie Wood, Bloomberg campaign spokeswoman, said in response, “He is a pathological liar who lies about everything: his fake hair, his obesity, and his spray-on tan.”

These remarks from the president come just hours after he tweeted a series of anti-Bloomberg tweets that insisted the former NYC mayor “is going nowhere” and is “just wasting his money.”

Bloomberg took to Twitter in response, saying “Looks like our ads are keeping you up at night. We’ve got one in particular you should watch today.”

Both reportedly spent millions of dollars on ad time during the Super Bowl.

When Hannity asked if Trump was still willing to work with Democrats after House Democrats impeached him, he responded, “I’m not sure that they can do it, to be honest. I think they just want to win and it doesn’t matter how they win.”

Trump is set to be acquitted by the Senate on Wednesday. This interview comes just days before the President is set to give his State of the Union Address on Tuesday.
