Former President Donald Trump called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) an “animal” for spearheading what he says were wrongful impeachments during his tenure in the White House.

“Of course, I think she’s an animal too, you want to know the truth,” Trump said at a rally in Dayton, Ohio. “They’ll say, ‘Oh what a horrible thing he said about Nancy’ — she impeached me twice for nothing.”

Trump’s comment about Pelosi came after he accused an MS-13 gang member of being an “animal.” The gang member was convicted of murder.

Trump was impeached the first time by the House in 2019 for allegedly prodding Ukraine to investigate President Joe Biden and his son and threatening to revoke U.S. aid to the country if it refused to comply. He was impeached a second time in January 2021 over possible incitement of the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol. The Senate acquitted Trump in both instances.
