On Wednesday, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to attack Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and the media after reports of a possible economic downturn this fall.
Trump claimed that Powell has made it hard for the U.S. to compete with other countries and that the U.S. economy is struggling because he has not done his job correctly.
WATCH BETO TAKEDOWN TRUMP:
“Doing great with China and other Trade Deals. The only problem we have is Jay Powell and the Fed. He’s like a golfer who can’t putt, has no touch. Big U.S. growth if he does the right thing, BIG CUT – but don’t count on him! So far he has called it wrong, and only let us down.”

Despite reports of a coming recession, the president has said that the economy remains strong. Trump has pushed for lower interest rates from the Federal Reserve and has recently called for it to be cut rates further to help a slowing economy.
Trump also called for a payroll tax cut which could also boost the economy. He again insists that this move has nothing to do with talk of a recession.
Early Wednesday morning, the president posted a tweet that blamed the “fake news” for trying to create a recession.
“The Fake News LameStream Media is doing everything possible the ‘create’ a U.S. recession, even though the numbers & facts are working totally in the opposite direction,” Trump tweeted. “They would be willing to hurt many people, but that doesn’t matter to them.”
