Trump Asks If Supreme Court Can Stop The Impeachment Process

President Donald Trump asked in a tweet on Monday morning whether the Supreme Court could intervene in the Democratic House’s impeachment process, though it is highly unlikely that the court would ever do so.

Trump made this request after reading the House Republican’s rebuttal to the impeachment report expected to be released on Tuesday. The GOP report states that there is no evidence that Trump did anything wrong in Ukraine – it will be used as a defense against the Democratic House’s report.

The president expressed that the GOP did a “great job” compiling their version of the report. He also stated that the “Democrats have no case” and that “impeachment shouldn’t even be allowed.”

Trump’s tweet marked the second time Trump has suggested handing over the case to the Supreme Court. Currently, there is no precedent for a U.S. president taking his impeachment case to the Supreme Court – but legal experts propose that it is highly unlikely the high court would ever hear his case.
