The Trump administration has employed a college senior to serve as a top official in the Presidential Personnel Office (PPO), according to three administration officials familiar with the move.
James Bacon, a 23-year-old George Washington University senior, has been selected to work under Trump’s new PPO director John McEntee. Bacon, who worked for Trump in his 2016 presidential election campaign, would have graduated on time had he not opted to work with the Trump campaign.
Bacon’s installment, along with the recent hiring of Communications Director Hope Hicks and McEntee, indicates that Trump is seeking out the most loyal staff members possible. After his impeachment and Senate acquittal, Trump ousted officials who he deems disloyal – like Lt. Col Alexander Vindham, a national security official, who testified against him in the impeachment proceedings.
Vindham had publicly testified to Congress against Trump, during the impeachment proceedings. He made damaging remarks that prompted further investigation by the House, and ultimately landed Trump in the hot-seat.
