Tom Steyer Drops Out Of Presidential Race After Disappointing 3rd Place South Carolina Result

Billionaire Tom Steyer dropped out of the 2020 Democratic presidential race on Saturday night after a disappointing third-place finish in the South Carolina primary. Steyer spent over $20 million in South Carolina alone and had spent more time than any other candidate in the state. Vice President Joe Biden handily won South Carolina with 52% of the vote, winning every county in the state.

Steyer had spent over $200 million of his personal fortune to fund his campaign.
