A lawyer for Stephanie Clifford, the porn star better known as Stormy Daniels, who was paid off so that she wouldn’t disclose an affair she had had with now President Donald Trump, told CNN on Friday that his client was threatened to “stay silent about what she knew.”
Michael Avenatti, who represents Clifford, appeared on both CNN and MSNBC on Friday to discuss the most recent break in the Stormy Daniels/Donald Trump saga, this time, to allege that his client faced physical harm, though stopping noticeably short of saying by whom, and adding that more details would be discussed later this month on CBS’s 60 Minutes where Clifford is set to appear.
“She’s going to be able to provide very specific details about what happened here,” Avenatti told CNN’s Chris Cuomo. Avenatti seemed reluctant to discuss anything more then promoting his clients story and upcoming interview, he wouldn’t answer whether or not the threats had been made from someone close to the president and couldn’t say whether or not he or his client had filed a police report over the threats.
On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, after being asked if Clifford had faced “physical threats” Avenatti responded plainly, “yes.” He said he would “not confirm or deny” if the physical threats came from the president himself or his team.
