Mesa County, Colorado Clerk Tina Peters is facing another arrest warrant for violating the terms of her bond. The warrant is the second one against the former GOP secretary of state candidate. The first one was issued in early July when she left the state without permission. It was thrown out after Peters’ lawyer argued that she was not properly notified of the restrictions placed on her.
The recent violation of her bond comes from an email Peters sent out to several Mesa County staff members and other election officials across the state. A stipulation on her bond states that Peters can have “no contact with employees from the Clerk and Records Office.”
The email asked several high-ranking officials for a recount of her failed election bid. Mesa County Director of Elections Brandi Bantz turned the email over to the police and shortly afterward the warrant was issued.
Peters has become a rising star among Colorado conservatives. During the 2020 elections, she actively participated in tampering with election machinery.

She has been outspoken in support of former President Donald Trump’s false claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
Peters has been indicted on ten counts, including tampering with voting machines. She has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
In a previous statement, Peters said, “If I have to be controversial to get the truth out, I’m not afraid of that. And that would make me dangerous, ’cause I’m not afraid.'”
