It’s been five years since the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage throughout the United States. Today, new research finds that the ruling boosted economy by an aggregated total of $3.8 billion.
The study was conducted by the researchers from the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law.
Since the legalization, around 300,000 same-sex weddings have taken place.
“Marriage equality has changed the lives of same-sex couples and their families,” said Christy Mallory, the lead researcher at the Williams Institute. “It has also provided a sizable benefit to business and state and local governments.”
