Roger Stone, a former advisor to President Donald Trump, posted an Instagram story on Sunday that called for former CIA director John Brennan to be “hung for treason.” The story managed to remain up for over an hour before it was taken down by Instagram for violating its policies on violence and threats of violence.
Stone is currently awaiting trial for charges related to his work on Trump’s 2016 campaign, including lying to Congress, obstructing justice and witness tampering. Stone is also suspected to have had a role in the 2016 hack of Hillary Clinton‘s emails by the Russians that helped President Trump win the presidential election. Stone has previously attacked Brennan, who served under President Barack Obama and began the Russia probe that led to Robert S. Mueller III‘s investigation and Stone’s subsequent arrest. A similar post was made on Stone’s Instagram account last week in which he accused Brennan of treason, but without declaring that he must be “hung.” Of course, the grammatically correct spelling should have been “hanged for treason.”

The posts come four months after Stone was issued a gag order not to speak or post on social media about anything related to his charges or his case. Additionally, at that time Stone posted a photo of the judge overseeing his case, Amy Berman, with hunting rifle crosshairs next to her. The judge reprimanded Stone for the crosshairs post, saying, “I’m not giving you another chance. I have serious doubts about whether you have learned any lesson at all.” It is unclear whether Stone will face any repercussions for his most recent post.
