Speaker of the Wisconsin Assembly Robin Vos said former President Donald Trump called him as recently as last week to urge him to decertify the 2020 election results.
“It’s one of those things that’s very consistent,” Vos said. “He makes his case, which I respect, he would like us to do something different in Wisconsin, I explained it’s not allowed under the constitution, he has a different opinion, then he put the tweet out, so that’s it.”
Vos was referencing Trump’s post on Truth Social, the social media platform he created after being booted from Twitter following the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack in which he called Vos a RINO, an insult meaning “Republican in Name Only,” after their phone call confirming that Vos would not be contesting the Wisconsin Supreme Court decision that outlawed absentee ballot drop boxes for upcoming elections.

Trump responded to Vos’ comments on Tuesday.
“So what’s Speaker Robin Vos doing on the Great Wisconsin Supreme Court Ruling declaring hundreds of thousands of Drop Box votes to be illegal?” he wrote. “This is not a time for him to hide, but a time to act! I don’t know his opponent in the upcoming Primary, but feel certain he will do well if Speaker Vos doesn’t move with gusto. Robin, don’t let the voters of Wisconsin down!”
