Steve King has garnered a lot of criticism for his rhetoric, and the latest person to challenge him is fellow Republican Rep. Steve Stivers of Ohio.
Stivers took to Twitter to call out King’s “recent comments, actions, and retweets” as “completely inappropriate,” adding how “white supremacy and hate in all forms” must be stood up against. He also happens to be the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee and part of his duties involve electing Republicans to Congress.

As midterms are drawing closer, King is currently in a close race against his Democratic rival J.D. Scholten, both of whom are neck-and-neck with each other according to a recent poll:

Scholten responded to Stivers’ denouncement of King favorably on Twitter, whereas King issued a statement deriding Stiver. In his statement, King claimed, “these attacks are orchestrated by nasty, desperate, and dishonest fake news,” contesting their scheme is “to flip the House and impeach Donald Trump.” He closed his statement by claiming the “establishment Never Trumpers are complicit.”
