Rep. Matt Gaetz Was Turned Down For A Newsmax Job
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida), a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump, was turned down for a spokesperson position by conservative TV network Newsmax. Gaetz reportedly contacted the outlet earlier this year claiming to want to “leave Congress” because of his interest in “TV work.”
However, shortly after contacting the news outlet, information leaked that Gaetz was under federal investigation for the sex trafficking of a minor. Gatez allegedly paid a 17-year-old girl to travel and have intercourse with him. Gaetz has denied all the allegations, writing that he will “absolutely not [be] resigning” from office. The Republican representative has not yet been charged but has agreed to cooperate with investigators.

Brian Peterson, a Newsmax’s spokesman, insisted that the network does not have “plans to hire Rep. Gaetz.” Another source revealed that Newsmax management “never told him [they] were interested” in hiring Gaetz.
Newsmax is not the only outlet that Gaetz reportedly sought work at. Gaetz has reportedly reached out to other conservative news television channels such as Fox News and One America News Network in search of an on-air position. All outlets denied having serious conversations about hiring Gaetz.
