Rep. Madison Cawthorn Still In Court For A Slew Of Traffic Violations

North Carolina Rep. Madison Cawthorn‘s (R) traffic violations were dealt with in traffic court earlier this month.

The court date came nearly a year and a half after Cawthorne racked up three violations in less than five months. He was stopped driving with a revoked license, and twice for speeding.

The first came as a speeding ticket in October 2021 when Cawthorn was pulled over for going 90 m.p.h. in Henderson County. No one responded when the controversial Congressman’s name was called in court and the ticket will be dealt with on November 3.

There are been multiple delays in dealing with the tickets, but there has been no response from Cawthorne’s team on why that is.

Cawthorne was defeated by state Sen. Chuck Edwards (R-North Carolina) in his reelection bit back in May.

Cawthorn’s two years as a congressman have been marked with personal and political missteps. He tried to take a loaded gun through airport security on more than one occasion, called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a “thug”  and accused Washington colleagues of using cocaine and inviting him to orgies.

Earlier this year, an ethic complaint accused him of having an “inappropriate relationship” with a male staffer.
