Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-North Carolina) said he wants Dr. Anthony Fauci – the top health adviser in the White House – to be prosecuted if the Republicans reclaim the control of Congress in 2022.

Cawthorn made his statement in an interview with the conservative news site Real America’s Voice. The North Carolina Republican said that Fauci should be prosecuted for lying to Congress, referring to a recent quarrel at a hearing with Rand Paul (R-Texas). Fauci vehemently denies lying to Congress and said that Paul “does not know what he is talking about.”

“I’ll tell you, when we take the majority back in 2022, I’ll make sure consequences are doled out,” Cawthorn said. “We want to prosecute this guy to the full ability of the law. And I’ll tell you, to lie to the American people just to get your name in the news, just to get your face on the cover of books, just to get fame and fortune.”

“I’ll tell you, Dr. Anthony Fauci does not deserve either fame or fortune,” he added.

Cawthorn has also introduced a new bill Thursday, called the No-Fly for Illegals Act, to block the use of federal funds to pay airlines fees for undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

“Illegal immigrants are being flown to, and relocated across, our once secure nation with no regard to our nation’s laws or families safety,” Cawthorn said in a statement. “I’m deeply troubled by the reports regarding the crisis at our southern border and the dangerous and unlawful immigration policies of the Biden administration.”
