Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado), a gun-rights extremist known for her far-right views, has filed for divorce from her husband, Jayson Boebert, after being married for nearly 20 years and sharing four sons together.

“It is with a heavy weight on my heart that I have filed for divorce from my husband. I am grateful for our years of marriage together and for our beautiful children, all of whom deserve privacy and love as we work through this process,” Rep. Boebert, , wrote in a statement. “I’ve always been faithful in my marriage, and I believe strongly in marriage, which makes this announcement that much more difficult.”

“This is truly about irreconcilable differences. I do not intend to discuss this matter any further in public out of respect for our children and will continue to work hard to represent the people of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.”

Her husband, on the other hand, seems to have been completely caught off guard by the divorce, telling The Daily Beast that “the divorce is sad, I did not expect this, I love her with every bit of my heart, she has been my soul mate and she is the mother of my children.”

Court documents revealed that the process server had some trouble serving Jayson with the divorce papers on April 25.

“I tried to hand him the documents but (he) did not take them,” the server wrote. “He started yelling and using profanities and told me that I was trespassing.” He also described the 42-year-old as “extremely angry.”

Boebert, 36, also recently announced that she is going to become a grandmother, as her 17-year-old son and teenage girlfriend are expecting a baby.

The controversial congresswoman was elected in 2020 and narrowly won re-election in 2022 after Democrat Adam Frisch conceded. Frisch later announced that he will be running again in 2024 when Boebert is expected to face an even more challenging race.
