Rep. Jim Jordan To Serve As Republican Questioner During Public Impeachment Hearings Despite Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Last Thursday, an Ohio State University wrestling referee stated in a lawsuit that the team doctor, Richard Strauss, masturbated in front of him after a match. He reported the incident to the then-assistant coach, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who ignored it and several other claims that Strauss had been molesting students.

On Friday morning, House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California) tapped Jordan to temporarily serve on the Intelligence Committee in place of Rep. Rick Crawford (R-Arkansas).

The Intelligence Committee is a selection-based panel, not a standing committee, which means that the party leader can change membership. McCarthy had the power to make the change unilaterally.

Jordan, a Trump ally, is known for his confrontational style.
