Freshman House members Rep. Cori Bush (D-Missouri) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) had a heated exchange in the Capitol building on Friday after Greene refused to wear a mask in the building. Speaker of the House Nancy Peolsi has since ordered that Bush’s office be moved farther away from Greene’s.
Bush tweeted about her encounter with Greene last Friday.
A spokesperson for Greene has since commented that “Rep. Bush is actually the instigator and it’s on tape. We’ll be releasing the video shortly.” The posted video shows a maskless Greene walking while someone out of frame who shouts from far away for her to put a mask on.

Bush agreed that she was the one who confronted Greene and explained that after she asked Greene to put on a mask, she and members of their staff quickly changed the subject and confronted Bush on unrelated issues. When asked on her specific reason for requesting the move, a Bush spokesperson cited “Taylor Greene’s renewed, repeated antagonization of the movement for Black lives in the last month directed towards Congresswoman Bush personally.”
Greene has been under heavy scrutiny since beginning her term as a House member. Several Facebook messages from Greene surfaced last week in which she voiced support for the execution of several prominent Democrats. A 2018 video of Greene also resurfaced showing her harassing Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg. A separate Media Matters investigation also uncovered a lengthy statement from Greene where she speculated that California wildfires were caused by a secret Jewish “space laser.”
