Jake ‘Angeli’ Chansley, a man known as the QAnon shaman who is charged with violent entry and disorderly conduct in the Capitol building during the Jan. 6 pro-Trump riot, has been granted a special organic diet after a hunger strike.
Judge Deborah Fine said during Angeli’s first court appearance on Monday that the prisoner’s conduct was “deeply concerning” and asked Angeli’s public defender to discuss new dietary accommodations with prison marshals.
Angeli’s mother later told ABC 15 that Angeli “gets very sick if he doesn’t eat organic food – literally will get physically sick.” Arizona U.S. Marshal David Gonzalez, who is overseeing Angeli, told reporters, “We will abide by the judge’s order.”
While Angelli’s lawyer implied that he was performing the hunger strike for religious reasons, Angeli’s mother said it is more likely because “the detention facility won’t feed him all organic food.”

When asked if he was concerned about his pending charges, Angeli, who paraded around the Capitol shirtless in animal skins during the riot, told Newsy that “I’m not really all that worried about it because, in all honesty … I didn’t break any laws. I walked through open doors.”
