Tensions are mounting between the Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams (D) and the governors of Texas and Arizona.
After over 3000 new asylum seekers entered New York City’s service shelters in the span of six weeks, Adams pointed to Gov. Greg Abbot’s (R-Texas) previous statements of bussing migrants to D.C. and other liberal cities.
With the increase in the population of homeless shelters, Adams called on the federal government for assistance. More food, clothing and blankets will be needed in order to maintain the current capacity, he said.
“In order to both meet the legal mandate as a right-to-shelter city and provide high-quality shelter and services for those who enter our system, New York City needs additional federal resources immediately,” Adams said during a press conference.

Adams claimed that the buses were sent from Texas and other red states but Abbott’s office refuted the claims.
The statement from the Texas governor read, “If these Democrat mayors are now that concerned about having migrants in their cities, they should call on President Biden to do his job and secure the border, instead of attacking Texas with baseless political accusations.”
In an article by the New York Post, reporters allegedly found that the Biden Administration instructed the buses to go to New York City. After The families crossed the border, busses were sent by the federal government and instructed to head to immigration centers in the north.
Others say that most of the new wave of migrants is mostly coming for help with legal processing by immigration lawyers based in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan.
