Sen. Rick Scott (R-Florida) posted an odd 35-second video that warned “socialists” and “communists” against traveling to the state of Florida.

The “travel warning” that Scott produced mocked warnings put out by civil rights groups such as the NAACP and the Human Rights Campaign in recent days. These organizations have issued a number of advisories targeted at LGBTQ people, people of color and immigrants, warning them to stay out of the state of Florida after it passed a number of bills aimed at these communities.

“Let me give you a travel warning,” said Scott in his video. “If you’re a socialist, communist, somebody that believes in big government, I would think twice – think twice – if you’re thinking about taking a vacation or moving to Florida.”

Scott continued to poke fun at travel advisories put out against his home state.

“We actually don’t believe in socialism… It’s not good for anybody. So, if you’re thinking about coming to Florida and you’re a socialist or communist, think twice. We like freedom, liberty, capitalism, things like that.”

This is not the first time that the senator has mocked warnings of this sort. Last month, he issued a press release warning Democrats to stay out of Florida.

The video sparked discussion that Scott might be ready to throw his hat in the ring for the 2024 presidential election.

Scott would be the third Floridian to join the race, following Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez
