New York Prosecutors Probe Of Trump Organization Is Now ‘Criminal,’ Attorney General Says

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) Tuesday announced she is joining Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance to investigate Trump Organization in a “criminal capacity.”

James has been investigating former President Donald Trump‘s business for more than two years over its alleged fraud of deliberately boosting property values to get tax breaks and better deals on loans and insurance.

“We have informed the Trump Organization that our investigation into the organization is no longer purely civil in nature,” a spokesperson for James’ office said in a statement.

We are now actively investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan DA. We have no additional comment at this time.”

The former president is also facing criminal investigations from Georgia over his alleged attempts to intervene in the state election in his favor.

Following James’ announcement late Tuesday, Trump also made a statement about the prosecutor’s decision.

“There is nothing more corrupt than an investigation that is in desperate search of a crime,” Trump said in a statement. “The Attorney General of New York literally campaigned on prosecuting Donald Trump even before she knew anything about me.”
