New Details Emerge About Indianapolis Fed Ex Shooter Brandon Scott Hole

New details are emerging after a gunman opened fire at a FedEx facility last Thursday in Indianapolis, Indiana. Nine victims (including the gunman himself) were killed: Matthew Alexander, 32; Samaria Blackwell, 19; Amarjeet Johal, 66; Jaswinder Kaur, 64; Jaswinder Singh, 68; Amarjit Sekhon, 48; Karli Smith, 19; and John Weisert, 74.

In addition to the victims who were fatally shot, five others have been hospitalized, and two workers were treated at the scene of the crime.

Brandon Scott Hole, the 19-year-old gunman, has since been identified as a former FedEx employee. Officials have revealed that Hole arrived at the FedEx facility at about 11 p.m. on Thursday and opened fire in the parking lot, a location commonly frequented by workers during their breaks.

According to Deputy Chief Craig McCartt of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Hole “just appeared to randomly start shooting” at the facility, where at least 100 workers were present.

Hole’s mother had warned law enforcement officials last year that she suspected her son might attempt “suicide by cop,” which resulted in the gunman being interviewed by the FBI and put on “immediate detention mental health temporary hold” in April 2020.

The Sikh Coalition, a national nonprofit, posted a statement on Twitter in response to the attack on Sikh FedEx employees: “We are sad to confirm that at least four of those killed in Thursday night’s attacks are members of the Indianapolis Sikh community.”

News of this violence comes after two mass shootings within the last month – in Atlanta and Boulder. Lawmakers are now faced with pressure to put forth legislation that addresses gun violence in America.

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb (R) condemned on the shooting. “This is another heartbreaking day, and I’m shaken by the mass shooting at the FedEx Ground facility in Indianapolis,” he said.

Mayor Joe Hogsett of Indianapolis also made a statement, calling the incident “horrific news of yet another mass shooting, an act of violence that senselessly claimed the lives of eight of our neighbors.”

President Joe Biden denounced the spate of recent violence. “This has to end. It is a national embarrassment,” he said. “Who in God’s name needs a weapon that can hold a hundred rounds? Or 40 rounds? Or 20 rounds? It’s just wrong. And I’m not going to give up until it’s done.”
