In the 2020 election, the turnout of Muslim voters increased substantially. Emgage, a Muslim American civic organization, found that 71 percent of registered Muslim voters went to the polls, an increase of 27 percent.
In states such as Georiga and Pennsylvania, the turnout of voters helped President Joe Biden‘s election. In Georgia, Muslim turnout was estimated at around 61,000 at the polls, and in Pennsylvania about 125,000 voters, according to Emgage.
Former President Donald Trump‘s administration implemented many antii-Muslim policies including a ban on travel to the U.S. from many Muslim countries.
Biden promised during his candidacy that he would “protect Muslim-American constitutional and civil rights, honor the diversity of Muslim-American communities,” according to his campaign website.
