Mike Pompeo Tours Wichita State With Ivanka Trump & Wife Susan Pompeo Amid Rumors Of Senate Run

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, his wife Susan Pompeo and First Daughter Ivanka Trump traveled to Wichita, Kansas, this week for scheduled meetings and events.

On Friday, Pompeo was on Wichita State campus and WSU Tech, a technical college affiliated with Wichita University.

The Pompeos and Trump attended WSU Tech National Center for Aviation Training Facility on scheduled tours and events. It is part of the Pledge to America’s Workers – an initiative involving 360 companies that are expected to create roughly 14 million career and training jobs for U.S. students who attend technical institutions like WSU Tech.

Demand for skills like aviation and healthcare is soaring. Textron Aviation alone was one of the first companies to sign the pledge – and alone, it will create more than 22,000 job opportunities.

Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) stated having a workforce proficient in the skills needed to fill the increasing number of jobs available in the state is imperative. “The jobs that are available, they pay well, and they require technical education and we need to make certain that we let folks know to be a success, or you can do it right here in our state,” Moran said.

Pompeo has ties to Wichita – it is his former congressional district. His wife Susan Pompeo is a WSU alumna and former homecoming queen. His visit comes in the wake of news that Roberts will vacate his Senate seat next year and rumors that Pompeo may run for the position.
