Vice President Mike Pence strongly denied that he considered invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president, after claims were published from a soon-to-be-released book that say White House aides were confident Pence would sign a letter to remove President Donald Trump from office, if the majority of the Cabinet supported the idea.
The book, A Warning, was written by an unnamed senior White House official under the pen name Anonymous.
According to pages obtained by HuffPost, Anonymous claims White House officials did a back-of-the-envelope tally of which Cabinet members would sign a letter invoking Section 4 of the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, which says that if the president is deemed unfit, the vice president would assume the role.
That letter would need to be signed by a majority of the Cabinet and then be signed by Pence for his before being submitted to Congress.

The book says that the 25th amendment talk began after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, because of his impulsive and erratic behavior. According to Anonymous, the senior officials were confident Pence would sign off on it.
Pence said he has never heard any discussion about the 25th amendment in the White House.
“You know when those rumors came out a few years ago, I dismissed them then,” he said, adding: “If there is someone who is in our administration or who has served in our administration [who] doesn’t support this president, doesn’t support his agenda, he should resign.”
Pence’s press secretary Katie Waldman blasted the claim on Twitter, calling it “FAKE NEWS.”
