Former President Donald Trump will not seek reelection in 2024 and is only teasing his potential candidacy to scam his supporters out of money, his erstwhile personal attorney and fixer Michael Cohen predicted over the weekend.
Cohen, who last week was completed his prison term for pleading guilty to committing bank fraud, tax evasion, campaign finance violations and lying to Congress – all at the behest of Trump, who called him a “bad lawyer and fraudster” – told NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday that Trump’s ego is far too fragile to sustain another election loss and that he is only pretending to run to keep the cash flow alive.
Cohen said that if Trump were to win the Republican presidential nomination and then get defeated that his entire brand built upon gaslighting the nation about his loss to President Joe Biden and the January 6 insurrection at the United States Capitol would collapse.
“If he loses, and he will in 2024, what happens to the big lie? The big lie disappears,” Cohen explained to host Chuck Todd. “He can’t now be like the boy who cried wolf, oh, they stole it from me in 2020, they now stole it from me in 2024.”

Trump will fake his candidacy “right to the very, very last second” and then bow out, Cohen said.
Cohen also touched on the array of civil and criminal probes into Trump’s personal businesses in New York State.
Trump is “guilty of his own crimes,” Cohen said, adding that he participated in “the inflation and deflation“ of the values of Trump’s assets, including golf resorts and various real estate holdings.
“My case is over. It was over when I had pled guilty,” Cohen said. “It was all part of one big, giant package. And it’s amazing that I’m the only one, you know, it’s amazing that I’m the only one that ended up doing prison, right, and indicted, incarcerated out of his entire group.”
