Melania Trump Faces Protests During Visit To Boston Medical Center

First Lady Melania Trump faced angry protests on her visit to the Boston Medical Center (BMC) on Wednesday.

The protesters were employees of the hospital. Thirty percent of all patients in the hospital are immigrants, who cannot speak English. The protesters were demonstrating primarily against President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

BMC’s President and CEO Kate Walsh received a letter from the protest’s organizers requesting that she cancel the first lady’s visit.

Walsh wrote back to them saying she considered this visit an opportunity to share with the nation’s leaders the hospital’s cherished values of inclusion, dignity and respect for humanity.

In her speech, the first lady made no reference to the protests. She said she was there to talk about the opioid crisis, which was wreaking havoc on families with babies and young children.

The protesters carried signs saying, “We Care for All” and “Exceptional Care, No Exceptions.”

In a veiled dig at the infamous green parka jacket that Melania had worn on a visit to a Texas immigration center, one sign carried the words, “We really care, do u?
