Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan Dings Trump Over Huge Loss To Biden In 2020

Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan took a swipe at former President Donald Trump after Trump announced his endorsement of Maryland State Del. Daniel Cox (R) in next year’s gubernatorial contest. Hogan is unable to run for reelection due to term limits.

“Dan Cox is an American First Patriot who is running for Governor in the Great State of Maryland. A tough lawyer, and smart businessman, Dan has done outstanding work in the Maryland General Assembly. Dan is MAGA all the way, unlike his opponent, Kelly Schultz, who was handpicked by her ‘boss,’ RINO Larry Hogan, who has been terrible for our Country and is against the American First Movement,” Trump said in a statement.

“As a State Delegate, Dan stood up to Hogan when he was supporting and meeting with Joe Biden. Dan is for low taxes, school choice, and no more lockdowns,” Trump added. “He fought against the Rigged Presidential Election every step of the way, and will bring secure Elections back to Maryland.”

On Monday evening, Hogan responded to Trump’s endorsement of Cox by mocking the walloping that Trump received in Maryland by President Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Biden earned a million more votes than Trump, resulting in a lopsided victory of 65.4 to 32.2 percent.

“Personally, I’d prefer endorsements from people who didn’t lose Maryland by 33 points,” Hogan quipped on Twitter, parodying disparaging remarks Trump once made about the late United States Sen. John McCain‘s (R-Arizona) harrowing plight as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam conflict.

Hogan, who supports Maryland Secretary of Commerce Kelly Schulz‘s candidacy for the governorship, has dismissed Cox as a “QAnon conspiracy theorist” and “not the kind of person I would vote to put in the legislature or support in any way for anything.”
