Maricopa County Elections Official Clint Hickman Rejected Multiple Calls From Trump After Election

Maricopa County elections official Clint Hickman (R) has revealed that he rejected multiple calls from former President Donald Trump’s White House shortly after the 2020 election. “Whatever needed to be said, needed to be said in a courtroom,” he said.

Hickman said that multiple individuals in Trump’s White House tried to call him in an attempt to convince him to investigate conspiracy theories about voting irregularities in the county. “I got a phone call from the White House switchboard, and I have to say it: All of these people that called me, it wasn’t stonewalling. We were in litigation at all these points,” he told CNN. “Whatever needed to be said, needed to be said in a courtroom in front of a judge or a jury.”

Hickman noted that he advised Trump officials against calling him because of pending lawsuits. “I said, ‘Just do me a favor. I can’t talk to anyone while this is being litigated,” he recalled.

Hickman, alongside other members of the elected body that supervises elections in Maricopa Country, certified the election results and found no irregularities after multiple audits.
