Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance will be seeking the help of a legendary former federal prosecutor in building a case against former President Donald Trump.
Mark F. Pomerantz will be working with Vance and the D.A.’s office to determine Trump’s alleged tax crimes, bank fraud and misleading of lenders and investors at the Trump Organization. Pomerantz is a white-collar crime specialist with decades of experience prosecuting for the federal government.
District attorney investigations very rarely seek outside help. Pomerantz, however, was sworn in as special assistant district attorney in February and will be working exclusively on the impending Trump case.
D.A. Vance’s case against Trump has been gaining steam in recent months. Prosecutors have interviewed a multitude of witnesses and requested Trump lender Ladder Capital release relevant information to the courts. Vance’s prosecutors have already subpoenaed Trump records at his long-time lender, Deutsche Bank, and bank employees have now agreed to testify against Trump.

Vance, Pomerantz and prosecutors have not criminally charged Trump yet and are awaiting tax returns and financial records from the former president that have been held up in the Supreme Court. Prosecutors believe Trump and his company may have misled banks of their owned properties’ value to get better loans. Then, the same properties would be undervalued when filing taxes. Vance and Pomerantz are expected to also investigate Trump’s insurance claims for his various failed properties like the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City which was demolished Tuesday.
