Police officer Brett Hankinson, who was involved in the killing of an African-American woman Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky, will be fired, Louisville’s Mayor Greg Fischer announced Friday.

Hankison, one of three officers that were involved in the death of Taylor, might lose his badge. The others have been placed on administrative leave.

Taylor, an African American ER professional, was fatally shot eight times by officers who came into her apartment on a “no-knock” warrant. The officers had entered the wrong apartment and Taylor’s boyfriend shot at them believing it was a home invasion.

Taylor’s name has become a symbol of global anti-racism protests, along with George Floyd.
