A Democratic headquarters in Jefferson county Kentucky, was vandalized over the weekend with words that belittled Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York). “RACIST AOC,” “TREASON DEM,” and “WITCH HUNT” were spray painted on the exterior of the building.

The building serves as the Louisville Democratic headquarters. It issued this statement:

“This kind of hate filled graffiti is an unfortunate symptom of today’s environment where folks won’t come together for honest debate and discourse. Free speech is about buying a billboard with your options, not vandalizing a building with graffiti.”

The Republican Party in Kentucky also issued a statement in which it denounced the vandalism and said that “while rhetoric and tensions may run high,… there are far more constructive ways for people to express their views.”

Three of the group are U.S. citizens and only Omar was born outside of the United States.

The “WITCH HUNT” message was alluding to Trump’s frequent declarations about Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian Interference with the 2016 presidential election. Since the beginning of the investigation, Trump has repeatedly called it a “witch hunt.” Last Wednesday during his testimony Mueller told Congress that his investigation was “not a witch hunt” as Trump claims.
