Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. Under Investigation For Yacht Use

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr, best known as an evangelical figure and notable supporter of President Donald Trump, is reportedly under scrutiny for using the NASCAR owner Rick Hendrick‘s yacht after his university made a lucrative sponsorship deal.

The yacht is known to have six bedrooms, marble bathrooms and many other luxurious features.

It was his recent Instagram post – a picture of himself in Hendrick’s yacht with his pants unzipped and arm around a woman he later revealed as his wife’s personal assistant – that got him into hot water.

Falwell has been using the yacht for family vacations according to his Instagram posts. Following the controversy, some members of the university expressed their concerns about his management of university funds, Politico has reported.

Although he quickly deleted the post, his photo still caused a huge backlash as being inappropriate, given how he and his college has been maintaining conservative Christian values.

Falwell recently talked to the local radio station at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, about this photo, apologizing for his behavior.

“I’ve apologized to everybody,” Falwell said. “And I’ve promised my kids I’m going to try to be – I’m gonna try to be a good boy from here on out.”

During the interview, however, he also claimed that the action was merely a friendly one.

“She’s [the wife’s assistant] pregnant so she couldn’t get her, she couldn’t get her pants up,” he said. “And I was like, trying to like, my, I had on pair of jeans that I hadn’t worn in a long time so I couldn’t get mine zipped either. And so, and so, I just put my belly, I just put my belly out like hers,” Falwell said.
