An LGBTQ activist group is pressing the Human Rights Campaign to withdraw financial support for Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Arizona) until she changes her stance on the filibuster.

It yet another instance of Sinema and her supporters coming under fire for her stance on the filibuster. In a letter the group also called for donors to the Human Rights Campaign to stop funding the group unless they disassociate themselves from Sinema.

The letter was signed by more that 100 Arizona LGBTQ activists. Supporters the letter also says Sinema’s position on the filibuster is preventing the passing of bills like the Equality Act which would give LGBTQ legal protections which is more urgent in light of  Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

The women’s group Emily’s List said in January that it will cut Sinema off unless she supported ending the filibuster. The Human Rights Campaign in a statement pointed out that Sinema had disappointed them since they pushed her to change Senate rules to pass voting rights legislation.
