Ken Starr: Robert Mueller’s Investigation Into Donald Trump Is “Definitely Not A Witch Hunt”

Former special prosecutor Ken Starr is best known for his work during Bill Clinton‘s administration, where he lead an inquires into Clinton’s affairs. Starr’s new book, Contempt: A Memoir of the Clinton Investigation, is his account of that era, and while promoting it, Starr had some choice words to say about Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation into Donald Trump.

KEN STRR: ROBERT MUELLER’S INVESTIGATION NOT A WITCH HUNT

Speaking on MSNBC’s The 11th Hour, Starr explained one difference his investigations had from Mueller’s is how the Special Council has to report to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Nevertheless, Starr stated his belief that both Mueller and Rosenstein are men of character and integrity.

“I know Bob Mueller to be a man of integrity,” Starr told Brian Williams. “I’ve expressed concerns about some of the people around him and some of the noise that we have seen. I think it’s important for the American people, all of the American people, to have confidence in the integrity of the investigation. Those issues were raised when I was on the duty station, and they’re being raised now with Bob Mueller. But I know him to be a man of integrity.”

Williams responded by asking, “So, it’s not a witch hunt?” Starr, in turn, affirmed that it is not. “It’s definitely not a witch hunt,” Starr noted conclusively. “That is a term used by any and every politician. It was used by Bill Clinton. It was used by the entire Clinton White House when we were doing our work from really day one. ‘There’s nothing there.’ Well, there was a lot there…”

Starr also believes Trump should not call the integrity of the investigation into question by attacking the Department of Justice and FBI, adding that he endured similar slandering during his investigations into Clinton.
