Juli Briskman, Woman Fired For Flipping Off President’s Motorcade, Sues Former Employer

A women who was fired last fall from her job at a government contracting firm for flipping off President Donald Trump‘s motorcade is suing her former employer for allegedly breaking state law.

Juli Briskman is suing her former employer, Akima LLC, arguing that under Virginia’s state law it is illegal for a government contractor to fire an employee based on the belief that the federal government would maintain a biased against the company and withhold future government contracts.

Briskman and her lawyers cited another employee who, in a Facebook discussion about the Black Lives Matter movement, called another user a “f–ing libtard a–hole.” Briskman claims she was treated differently than her colleague after he was allowed to keep his job as long as he deleted the post. Briskman also pointed out that she had, unlike her colleague, not named Akima LLC on her Facebook page as her employer.

Briskman filed the lawsuit Wednesday in Virginia’s Fairfax County District Court. According to the lawsuit, Briskman, a 50-year old mother of two, was promised four weeks of severance pay but was only allotted two. She is suing Akima for the remaining two weeks of pay, as well as the cost of her legal fees. In all, she is asking for $2,692.30.

“I filed this lawsuit against my former employer today because I believe that Americans should not be forced to choose between their principles and their paychecks,” said Briskman. “Working for a company that does business with the federal government should provide you with greater opportunities, but it should never limit your ability to criticize that government in your private time.”
