Joke About Rudy Giuliani Prompts Bipartisan Laughter During Senate Impeachment Trial

During the Senate impeachment trial, Republican and Democratic senators shared a laugh about the antics of Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.

Impeachment manager Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-Texas) played a video clip on Thursday of former Trump homeland security adviser Tom Bossert joking about Giuliani.

“Last year, retired former Sen. Judd Gregg wrote a piece in The Hill magazine saying the three ways or the five ways to impeach oneself. And the third way was to hire Rudy Giuliani,” Bossert said on ABC News’ This Week in September.

After Bossert’s quip about Giuliani, some Republicans and Democrats reportedly laughed and smiled like Sens. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) who smiled at each other, as did Sens. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and James Risch (R-Idaho) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina).

Giuliani is embroiled in the impeachment, having personally advised Trump about Ukraine. He pushed for the removal of former ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, and echoed claims of Biden family corruption.

He said Monday he would love to testify in the trial to expose former Vice President Joe Biden.

“It wasn’t just 2016. It was going on for years under Obama,” he said. “I have those facts, I have those witnesses, I have documents and I have recordings. And I would love to get them out in public because everyone is trying to suppress them to protect Joe Biden.”
