GOP Sen. Marsha Blackburn Accuses War Veteran Alexander Vindman Of Being ‘Unpatriotic’

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee) suggested Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman was unpatriotic for testifying during the House impeachment inquiry.

The Iraq War veteran and Purple Heart recipient listened in on the July 25 phone call between President Donald Trump and the president of Ukraine that sparked the impeachment.

“[House Intelligence Chairman] Adam Schiff is hailing Alexander Vindman as an American patriot,” she tweeted Thursday afternoon. “How patriotic is it to badmouth and ridicule our great nation in front of Russia, America’s greatest enemy?”


During his closed-door deposition, Vindman affirmed that Trump clearly requested a foreign government to investigate his political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden.

“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see where the gain would be for the president in investigating the son of a political opponent,” Vindman said during his deposition.

A memo transcript released by the White House revealed Trump had requested Ukraine to “look into” Biden.

Vindman’s legal team fired back at Blackburn’s comment.

“This difficult moment in our country calls for seriousness and seriousness of purpose,” one of Vindman’s lawyers, David Pressman, said in a statement obtained by Fox News. “Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman has sacrificed enormously for our country. He believes in our country. And he believes in our country’s great institutions, including the United States Senate.”
